Brother Chung cannot devote himself for this magazine any longer for his personal reason. Therefore, the continuation of this magazine, which had been managed by Brother Chung mostly, ran into the question of its existence; that is the reason why last April issue was suspended its publication. From 16th issue, I will take over the responsibility. Even though writers would remain the same, I hesitated before I took over the sole responsibility of the magazine on my shoulder; for I have to take blame or an insult regarding this magazine from now on.

The first reason for my hesitation was the question of mission. It is right that an evangelist rise up after one receives a mission first and so does a magazine. Brother Chung has not edited it based on a mission, and I also have other occupation. This magazine was originally started without agitating an extraordinary revelation and a mission when we published the first issue; for example, it is nothing but a collection of notes taken during our religious life, so this point is not going to change in the future; without questioning whether this magazine can be continued or not for doing like this way.

There are distinguished philanthropists and prominent families who serve for the country as patriots’ generation after generation. I cannot be relieved at leaving charitable work to professional philanthropists and delegating national affairs to unique families; since I know that spreading God’s words is greatest one among all charity works, I still continue to do such work that may appear laughable to professionals’ eye. So that, there is no prospect of sure success of celebrating one or two hundredth issue and I am not obstinate to succeed by all means; if there are notes, those will be collected, and if there are none, it will be discontinued at any time.

This magazine was intended to be a friend to farmers and fishermen, often it was warned for being too difficult to be understood, and some even criticized it to be too pedantic. It was partially caused by our inexperience, but it was also caused by wise men and scholars who incite us to enumerate just like St. Paul was incited to say, “I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless.” (Philippians 3:5-6) From now on, I decided not to participate in any arguments except the Cross; I would return to the Bible, regardless what young scholars and critics might say. Specially, I would study the Bible, aiming at the ones who want to know about the Christianity without participating in a church. Brother Chung wrote an article, ‘Old Testament and the New Testament’, is the expression of this main purport.

Announcement: Six-man management team of Sungsuh-Chosun Co. was dissolved for personal reasons. From now on, Kim Kyo-shin will be solely responsible for the management of this magazine that has been published by Chung Sang-hoon up to this month issue.
